The PADI Divemaster Course is the is the first step to becoming a scuba diving professional. Divemaster certification allows you to supervise recreational diving activities (either boat or land-based), work as an instructional assistant on all PADI courses and is just one step away from the PADI Instructor rating.
The course, conducted under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor up to 15 days, will fine-tune your dive skills, increase your dive knowledge, and develop your management and supervision abilities. The coursework is centred around leadership and taking charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, water skill exercises and workshops, and hands-on practical assessments, you develop the skills to organise and direct a variety of scuba diving activities.
Topics and skill workshops include:
- The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
- Supervising dive activities and assisting with students divers
- Diver safety and risk management
- Divemaster conducted programs and specialised skills
- The business of diving and your career
- Awareness of the dive environment
- Dive setup and management
- Mapping an open water site
- Conducting dive briefings
- Organising a search and recovery project and a deep dive
- Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course
- assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs.
Itinerary can vary, available upon request
- Soft drinks, beer, wine and chocolates (on board vessels)
- Transfers from Cairns and Northern Beaches of Cairns
- PADI rescue diver certifications or equivalent
- Dive medical
- Minimum age 18 years
- Minimum 40 logged dives
- Current first aid certification completed in the last 24 months
