4 Day PADI “Open Water” Learn to Dive Course

Coming soon in 2018

There is no better place in the world to learn to dive than the Great Barrier Reef! Water temperatures range from 22°C to 30°C allowing comfortable diving all year round. Our PADI 4 day learn to dive course is ideal for adventure seekers to take the plunge. Small classes ensure personalised attention and maximum fun!

The course is conducted in two components:

  • 2 days of pool and classroom training
  • 2 x 1 day trips to the outer Great Barrier Reef

The first two days of the course will be spent at our diver training center where students learn dive theory in the classroom and basic skills of scuba diving in the pool. Days 3 & 4 are spent on the Great Barrier Reef aboard one of our custom-built dive and snorkel catamarans, Poseidon or Silversonic, during which students complete four training dives. At the end of Day 4, students will be PADI Open Water divers! You will potentially have the opportunity to do an additional two pleasure dives as a certified diver.

DAY 1 & 2 – Quicksilver Dive Centre

  • Pool and theory training

DAY 3 – Training Dives on the Great Barrier Reef

  • Depart Port Douglas Marina to the Agincourt ribbon reefs aboard fast dive and snorkel catamaran, Silversonic or Poseidon.
  • Two training dives with your instructor.

DAY 4 - Training Dives and Certification on the Great Barrier Reef

  • Depart Port Douglas Marina to the Agincourt ribbon reefs aboard fast dive and snorkel catamaran, Silversonic or Poseidon.
  • Two further training dives with your instructor, followed by PADI Open Water Diver certification.
  • Congratulations, you’re a certified diver!

Course Requirements

  • Ability to swim - 200m (or 300m with mask, fins and snorkel) and tread water (float) for 10 minutes
  • Minimum age 12 years.
  • Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. Prior to commencing your dive course you are required to complete the self-assessment Student Diver Medical Declaration. A positive response to any questions indicates there is a pre-existing condition which may affect your safety while diving and you will need to obtain a dive medical certificate that states you are medically fit to dive.
  • If you do require a dive medical, it must be obtained prior to commencing the course and must not be more than 90 days old when you start with us.

Refresher Course

If it’s been a while since your last dive and you are feeling a little rusty, our refresher course is perfect to boost your confidence and regain your skills.

With a two hour pool refresher course, one of our PADI qualified instructors will run through gear setup and conduct a skill circuit in the pool, reviewing the basic Open Water skills as well as anything else you would like to go over to get you feeling comfortable in the water again.

Please bring your certification card, swimwear and a towel for the course session.

Once you’re completed your refresher course, you’re ready to head on out to the Great Barrier Reef aboard one of our dive catamarans, Silversonic and Poseidon, for some truly spectacular diving.
